Our 50 Olive Trees are the traditional Tuscan varieties of Frantoio, Leccino, and Pendolino. A healthy amount of green olives, harvested with the black olives, is what gives our oil the peppery intensity that one expects from traditional Artisanal Italian Olive OIl.
Every year, on the last Sunday of October, our family and friends gather for the festive harvesting - a tradition that began over ten years ago. Our olives are not only hand picked but hand sorted - a guarantee that only the perfect fruit makes it to the press.
Each year we are lab certified as Extra Virgin Olive Oil, always exceeding the high standards set by the Olive Oil Council of California. Depending on the ratio of green to black olives, the taste can range from mellow and ripe to grassy and peppery.
High on the eastern slope of Sonoma's Valley of the Moon, Heart of Oaks Ranch was first established in 1890 by English immigrant Alfred Huddart and his daughter Emily (seen standing above on the ranch). Her grandson, Haig - the 4th generation owner of Heart of Oaks Ranch - and his wife, Carol, now proudly produce our annual blend of artisanal olive oil.
